Lifestyle photography: how and why

"Lifestyle photography is relaxed, comfortable and approachable. It strives to capture real moments that you will recognise as part of your life." - Jeff Haggin and Bjorn Kartomten

  • not posed
  • doesn't show superficial images of success
  • 'a slice of life' that's real
  • photographer becomes a third person that models are told to ignore
  • shooting on location is a big help in creating a sense of naturalness

This text will help me when taking the photo and how it should be. I'll try to make my subject feel comfortable and feel like i'm not there with a camera taking a photo of them and therefore I will capture moments of everyday life in order to show the reality.

Kate's images continue to 'connect' us to the moment.
Over the last 15 years she has refined the art of capturing these distinct glimpses into people's lives. Forever honing in on the believable, she focuses on those minute quirks that sets us apart - never happy until she's captured that shot: the one we never question of being real. All this is portrayed with a natural style that makes the lighting, production and composition feel quite effortless.

Similarly to Kate I will capture a girl's life, presenting reality and most importantly I will do this by capturing the person without knowing in order to capture reality and present these real moments.
